merry christmas: the traditional holiday post. (with links!)

santa came to visit me this year. i think it’s been about 15 or 16 years since that happened…maybe more. he left me some new bamboo cutting boards (i don’t know why i used the word ‘new’…that’d be both disgusting and insulting if santa gave me used ones), brooks brothers perfume, some ornaments, and a bag full of goodies like cookies, nail files, and of course a talking santa gnome.

i was shocked! oh, santa. it’s because i tweeted about you yesterday isn’t it?

christmas has felt and looked so much different for me this year, probably because it’s my first holiday to stay in austin and have the family visit me…but also because i have great friends who have encouraged me to study this season of advent, or the “coming” of Christ with them. i love and enjoy this tradition of the Christian faith each year in specifically communing together over the day chosen to celebrate the birth of baby JC.

i dunno. i think at the ripe young age of 27, i’m beginning to grow up and maybe mature a little bit in my faith and in life, and the world just looks different when you take a moment to ask for guidance and perspective.

anyway, i have had a most joyous day, and i sincerely hope that you have, too, oh blogging world.

here’s a picture of some incredibly awesome flip-flop socks that my sister, amy, gifted me. i’ve been wearing them now, for two days. don’t judge me.

oh yeah. i also got this and this. WAHOOO! i heart my tech-savvy family.

I was just thinking, like, the SAME thing yesterday. I couldn’t be more excited for 2009.

We need to hang out. I think I need to know you. I think we’d like each other a lot.

I’m glad you had such an excellent Christmas!

P.S. SO.TOTALLY.JEALOUS. of your rad socks!
